REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene

Required by staff who handle open high risk food, or who handle food and have a supervisory role.

duration - 1 day

The REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene course is designed for all food workers in the food industry. It is a 6 hour course followed by assessment and covers:

  • An overview of food hygiene
  • Bacteria, their effect and how to control risks
  • Food poisoning and prevention
  • Temperature control of food
  • Food premises, equipment and utensils
  • Pests and their control
  • Cleaning and disinfection
  • Food Law and the role of Environmental Health Officers

assessment - The course is assessed by a 30 minute multiple choice exam.

qualification - Successful candidates will receive an Elementary Food Hygiene certificate from REHIS
